Penthouse Prenzlauer Berg is a modern bachelor apartment interior designed by Berlin Rodeo in one of Berlin’s most design-forward neighborhoods. The concept is unapologetically social: the architects describe Berlin as a city about “people living their life,” and this home is laid out to support that, with an open-plan arrangement that avoids the typical multi-room apartment layout. From the entry onward, the space reads as one continuous interior landscape, shaped more by surfaces, lighting, and custom objects than by walls or doors.

A strong architectural gesture appears immediately on the left: a full walnut wall designed as a backdrop for a statement timepiece the client discovered in Milan. It’s a good example of Berlin Rodeo’s method here, where furniture and art are treated as anchors and the architecture is built around them. Throughout the apartment, geometric patterning reinforces the same idea, especially through wallpaper compositions featuring triangles and circular “ring” motifs, laid out intentionally rather than used as generic decoration. Even the selection process is part of the story, with the designers describing the moment they opened a wallpaper sample and knew instantly it was “100%” correct for the space.

Materials lean bold but controlled, with several one-off elements functioning like architectural installations. A large marble dining table (so heavy and oversized it had to be delivered by crane) becomes a centerpiece for entertaining, while the dining area also includes a textured 3D wall surface chosen partly for acoustics, helping reduce sound and echo during gatherings. Lighting is treated as a design system rather than a utility: at night, a directional spotlight scheme frames artwork and surfaces, transforming the apartment into something closer to a private gallery. The bedroom is intentionally more contained, designed as a private retreat where the client can “lay on the bed watching a movie,” with separation from the social zones giving the apartment a clear rhythm between public life and privacy.
