The Tom & Vi Zapara School of Business at La Sierra University in Riverside, California is a ground-up academic facility designed by TR Design Group as part of a campus expansion strategy that links education space with public-facing conference functions. The building is a two-story structure of roughly 60,200 square feet (also cited as 60,230 SF in project documentation), developed through both architectural design and campus master planning. Conceived as a modern business school facility, the project reflects the increasing expectation that higher education architecture must serve multiple roles at once: instruction, professional events, recruitment identity, and community engagement.
Architecturally, the building’s recognition comes from its ability to create a distinctive institutional presence without relying on excess formal gestures. The project has been noted for design excellence through national education design publications and also received local civic recognition, including the 2014 Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful Award of Distinction. The school’s visibility extends beyond the campus itself, having been highlighted as “Most Beautiful Business Building in the World” by Top Management Degrees, which positioned the building as an example of how academic business architecture can function as a landmark within both university branding and the broader urban identity of Riverside.
